Henry White has walked, camped, driven and sketched all over California. The point of view of his paintings is that of one intimately familiar with the land; an observant admirer who has been exploring and loving California his whole life.
For many, California is an idea, an escape, the Golden State of freedom and dreams. White’s paintings show the California that its natives cherish and its visitors fall in love with. The California we experience is particular; this oak studded hillside, this October evening made golden in the setting sun. Each painting reflects a unique experience from the rolling Sonoma hills to crashing waves on the rugged coastline or the geologic abstraction of the high Sierra. Yet the paintings are more than the report of an ardent naturalist, they touch the soul of the land.
Henry’s original oil paintings, drawings, limited edition giclee prints & greeting cards are available on this website.
